Did you know that 1 in 12 children in the state of NH will experience the death of a parent or sibling by the age of 18?
On Wednesday, December 11, 2024 the Seacoast Learning Collaborative staff members received grief training and resources from the Friends of Aine Center for Grieving Children and Families as part of its “Grief Backpack Initiative”.
Our staff received grief education training to include tips on starting conversations, information about what grief looks like at different developmental ages, and ideas on what to say and what not to say, as well as an overview of the grief backpack kit and its contents so that as a staff, we can better support grieving children.
A Friends of Aine purple backpack was delivered to our school, thereby providing a valuable grief resource toolkit to help navigate the difficult topic of grief with our students.
